Has anyone ever wondered why Kakashi started wearing his mask in the first place?  ReaderXKakashi

“Kakashi-sensei,” Sakura approached her teacher rather shyly.

“Yes, Sakura,” he replied not bothering to turn away from his orange covered Icha Icha Paradise novel.

“Why do you wear that mask all the time?” she asked pushing her pointer fingers together while staring down at the ground.  She was surprised when Kakashi put down his book, smiled, and motioned for her to sit down in front of him.

************************************Flashback*************************************

A sixteen year old Kakashi was in his sensei’s favorite clearing, sparring with y/n, one of his teammates.

“That’s enough for today.  Y/n, Kakashi, come on in,” Yondaime motioned with his hand.

You followed Kakashi over to your sensei while wiping the sweat off of your brow.

“I’m very proud of you two.  You’ve grown a lot these past two years.  Especially you Kakashi,” Yondaime chuckled.

“Huh?” Kakashi’s eyes held confusion in them.

“You’re becoming a man,” he pointed to the bottom half of Kakashi’s face.  Sure enough a light stubble coated his cheeks and chin.

“Ewwww!!” you teased stroking his cheek with your hand causing a light blush to place itself on his face.

“Now now y/n, you shouldn’t tease,” Yondaime laughed and dismissed you both.

You and Kakashi walked together until you came to Ichiraku where you had to part ways.  You waved to him before saying bye.  It was then the rain started to fall down, and, running, you finally reached your house before nightfall.

‘Damnit!  She really doesn’t like it.  Now what am I going to do?  Well it’s too late tonight to do anything about it, I’ll have to fix it in the morning.’ Kakashi sighed over thinking his little ’problem’ all the while getting undressed and laying down on his bed.

``````````````````````````````````Next Morning``````````````````````````````````````

“Okay.  Here we go!” Kakashi smiled, holding a razor triumphantly in the air.” Now all I have to do is-Owww!!”

A little dot of blood appeared on his right cheek. ‘I guess this was harder than I thought.’  He tried again.  By the time Kakashi had finished there were bits of toilet paper spread across his face: four on the left side, five on the right.

He finally looked at himself in the mirror after finishing.  ‘Oh man.  I can’t go out looking like this!  Y/n-chan will laugh at me.’  He went back to his room.

“Oh man training starts in ten minutes!” He panicked and ran to his closet.” Where did I put that thing?” He frantically searched, throwing things onto the floor left and right.

“Aha!  Here it is!,” He smirked before running downstairs and out the door.

Kakashi walked up to find you and Rin already sparring with each other.  When he arrived you both stopped to look at his new ‘fashion statement’.  Rin looked on as you approached him.

“Kakashi-kun, what’s with the black mask?” you asked grinning.

“I....I-umm,” Kakashi stopped abruptly when you leaned in and kissed him on his fabric-covered cheek.

“I think it looks cool!,” You said and walked back towards Rin to continue your training session.

“So you still don’t know how to shave sensei?” Naruto laughed.  He had stopped sparring with Sasuke a few minutes ago to hear the end of the story.

“No, I still think it looks cool,” You ‘poofed’ beside Kakashi giving him a soft kiss on the cheek.
